What this policy covers
This Privacy Policy describes how Maidride Technologies Ltd ("Maidride," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information about you when you use our mobile application, website, or any other services we provide (collectively, the "Service"). By using our Service, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use our Service.
Information we collect
We collect three categories of information: Account information — when you register, we collect your name, phone number, email address, and a profile photo. Location data — when you use the app, we collect your device's GPS location to match you with nearby drivers, calculate routes, and display your trip history. Location is collected while the app is in use. Usage data — we automatically collect information about how you interact with the app: rides requested, routes taken, in-app actions, and device information (operating system, device type, app version). For drivers, we additionally collect: government ID, driver's license, vehicle registration documents, and vehicle photo for verification purposes. These are stored securely and reviewed only by our safety team.
How we use your information
We use your information to: • Provide the Service — match riders with drivers, process ride requests, and deliver your experience • Ensure safety — verify driver identity and monitor trips for safety violations • Communicate with you — send ride confirmations, support responses, and service updates • Improve the product — analyse usage patterns to fix bugs and build better features • Comply with the law — meet legal obligations including fraud detection and dispute resolution We do not use your data to serve you third-party advertising. We do not sell your personal information.
How we share your information
We share limited information to make the Service work: With drivers: When a ride is matched, your first name, pickup location, and destination are shared with your assigned driver. With riders: Your driver's name, profile photo, vehicle details, and real-time location are shared during the trip. With service providers: We use third-party vendors for cloud hosting (Supabase), image storage (Cloudinary), and mapping (Google Maps). These providers are contractually bound to protect your data. With authorities: We may disclose information when required by law, or in response to valid legal processes, or to protect the safety of our users. We never share your phone number directly — all communication between riders and drivers is anonymized through our platform.
Data storage and retention
Your data is stored on secure servers hosted by Supabase in the EU (eu-north-1). We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal information is removed within 30 days. Ride history may be retained in anonymised form for analytics. Driver document records may be retained for legal compliance purposes for up to 2 years after account deletion.
Your rights and choices
You have the right to: • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you • Correction — ask us to fix inaccurate information • Deletion — request deletion of your account and associated data • Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format • Objection — object to certain types of processing To exercise these rights, email privacy@maidride.com or use the delete account page at maidride.com/delete-account. We will respond to requests within 30 days.
Security
We take security seriously. Measures include: • HTTPS encryption for all data in transit • Database encryption at rest • Access controls — only authorised team members can access sensitive data • Regular security reviews of our infrastructure No system is perfectly secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at security@maidride.com.
Children's privacy
Maidride is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If we discover that a child has created an account, we will delete the account and associated data promptly.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or via email. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy. The date at the top of this page shows when the policy was last updated.
